MYELIN

The myelin sheath is the protective coating that surrounds the nerves similar to the protective coating on an electrical cord. There are many reasons why the myelin sheath becomes damaged or destroyed thereby causing neuritis or inflammation of the nerves. Toxic chemicals and heavy metals such as lead and mercury destroy the myelin sheath. Autoimmune conditions (diabetes, gout and multiple sclerosis) are caused by or advanced by the loss of myelin. MS (Sphingomyelin) is the myelin protein the body uses to build the protective sheath and can give insulation back to the nerves.
