CARNOSINE, THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH AMINO ACID has the ability to take senescent (aging) cells and return them to their juvenile phenotypes. This is truly the fountain of youth. Carnosine has demonstrated in cell cultures the ability to rejuvenate old and damaged cells. Cells use peptides and dipeptides (combination of two amino acids) to repair DNA daily. Carnosine is a dipeptide (the combination of beta-alanine and histidine) that is naturally occuring in most of the body's cells, especially muscle, heart and brain cells. Carnosine levels decrease by up to 65% by age 70. Carnosine is one of the body's most protective and anti-aging compounds. The largest concentration of carnosine is in skeletal muscles and there it aids in the recovery of fatigued muscle. Carnosine protects the body's cell membranes from damage which is critical for keeping cells alive; it also protects the cells from the effects of radiation. Used in combiation with zinc, carnosine prevents stress-induced gastric (stomach) ulcers and accelerates ulcer healing. Carnosine is a natural histadine. Containing dipeptide, carnosine promotes the alpha-wave functions in lthe brain which help to prevent anxiety, irrability and depression.
